Company Bio:

Prairie-born and hearty as hell, Outside Joke  is an improvisational theatre company with a flair for telling stories woven with improvised songs. Outside Joke brings a playfulness to the stage you’re sure to fall in love with.

Since 2002, they have performed in festivals and theatres across Canada,  including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal.

Outside Joke is Andrea del Campo, Chadd Henderson, Toby Hughes, Leif Ingebrigtsen, RobYn Slade, and Jane Testar.

RobYn

RobYn Slade lives for the funny. She is an improviser, actor, and writer. Improv highlights include performing at Rapid Fire Theatre’s IMPROVAGANZA, PROJECTproject’s Combustion Festival, and every iF… Winnipeg Improv Festival since it’s glorious birth. Scripted highlights include The Brink, How It Works (PTE), Steel Magnolias (RMTC), Co-Dependant Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same (FemFest). Life highlights so far include voicing a cartoon character, flying in airplanes, and fixing up snack platters.

Jane

Jane is a multidisciplinary comedian, regularly performing both improv (with Outside Joke) and sketch comedy. Her sketch troupe, Hot Thespian Action is a Fringe Festival favourite, and has performed at the Toronto Sketch Fest, the CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival and has been nominated twice for a Canadian Comedy Award.

Jane is also a member of the theatre ensemble, Foolish Wit, who perform Commedia Dell’arte and have created and toured two original bilingual children’s shows for Canadian Parents for French. She has appeared in productions with GalleryWorks Theatre (Sunday in the Park with George), Prairie Theatre Exchange (Little Munsch on the Prairie) and Théâtre du Grand Cercle (De Bouche à Oreille). Jane can also be heard every week on CBC Radio One with her etiquette advice column, Miss Conduct.

Leif

Leif has been doing improv since 2000, but has been performing his whole life. He has played a wide variety of musical instruments, including piano, keyboards, guitar and drums for as long as he can remember. After high school, Leif performed with the sketch-comedy/improv troupe Your Original Parents (YOP). Leif joined Outside Joke in 2007 and was finally able to combine his love of music and improv and later would become quite fond of referring to himself in third person.

Andrea

Andrea is a Winnipeg-born actor, singer and improviser. Andrea began improvising with the Canadian Improv Games in high school, and has continued with Outside Joke, with Ghost Jail Theatre in Toronto and, most recently, the DnD Improv Show. When she is not making things up onstage, she is learning other people’s words to say onstage or on screen. Winnipeg stage credits include The Penelopiad (MTC), Sunday in the Park with George (Galleryworks Theatre), Munsch Ado About Nothing (PTE), Rich (MTYP) and Strike!, Winnipeg’s human rights MUSICAL epic. In tv/film-land, Andrea has appeared in CBC’s Men With Brooms, Family Channel’s Wingin’ It and the films Open Window and My Awkward Sexual Adventure, both official selections of TIFF. It is worth noting that the only activities Andrea has been doing longer than Outside Joke are the basic functions of staying alive (eating, sleeping, etc.).

Chadd

Chadd Henderson can be seen improvising with Outside Joke, the DnD Improv Show or
whatever ensemble cast that will let him join their ranks. Starting out as an improviser 15 years ago in Winnipeg, Chadd has travelled across Canada performing and teaching improv. A graduate of the Canadian Improv Games, Chadd is now the Regional Director of the Manitoba Improv League. He is also the DUNGEON MASTER and producer of Winnipeg Fringe favourite, the Dungeons and Dragons Improv Show.

Toby

Toby has been with Outside Joke since 2002, and has travelled Canada performing with the group. As an actor, he has performed, mostly as children and animals, with various theatres in Winnipeg, and was a zombie rock star on the Space Network’s “Todd and the Book of Pure Evil“. Toby loves telling stories, especially when the stories are made up, and ESPECIALLY when the made up stories feature whittling.
