IT’S ALMOST THAT TIME OF THE MONTH. AND BY MONTH WE MEAN YEAR. AND BY MONTH WE MEAN NEXT MONTH (JULY).
Friends, we took a break from Fringe Festival madness in 2015 to rejuvenate ourselves, and hot darn was it ever a good idea. We consolidated our gains, reevaluated what was important to us and talked a bunch with Leif in Edmonton over fuzzy FaceTime connections.
What is different about Fringe for Outside Joke this year?
- We’ve left our beloved, longtime Fringe venue, the Rudolph Rocker in search of a larger, more theatrical space. For 2016 we’ll be moving our operations to the Gas Station Arts Centre. The venue has roughly three times as many seats as the Rocker, so we’re counting on all you kittens to see this show at least five times.
- We’re revamping our format. Expect to see a tighter, more polished show that maintains the whimsy, wonder and chaos that Outside Joke is known for. We’re beginning our workshopping process next week and we can’t wait!!
- This will be the last series of shows we have with our musician, Leif Ingebrigtsen. It is with sadness, love and fondness that we will bid farewell to “the young man”, as he commits himself to his life and work in Edmonton, where he moved almost two years ago. Leif is becoming known in Edmonton for his amazing talents as a composer for musicals and plays, and we could not be happier for the direction his art and career is going in. His departure marks a new chapter for Outside Joke as well, and we look forward to exploring collaborations with new artists.
So that’s the news from our end! We’re going to be throwing down preeeeetttty hard at Fringe this year, and we look forward to you joining us. Our shows are July 14-17 and 20-13 at the Gas Station Arts Centre, all shows at 7:45pm and all tickets $10. See you in a few weeks!
